Our rink is inside Sport Society Mall in Mirdif, right at the Al Warqa border. From Al Warqa 1 and 2 the drive takes about 10 minutes. From Al Warqa 3 and 4 allow a few minutes more. Parking is at the mall, and the ice is indoors, so the weather outside never matters.

Al Warqa sits right against Mirdif, and our rink sits inside Sport Society Mall on the Mirdif side of that border. From Al Warqa 1 or 2 the drive takes about 10 minutes. From Al Warqa 3 and 4 add a few minutes more. You park at the mall and walk in. The rink is indoors, so an August afternoon stays outside the doors and training runs the same way in January and in July. For a family in Al Warqa this is a short hop after school, not a trip across the city.
Real ice, all year. Our rink in Mirdif keeps running through the summer, when outdoor sport in Dubai pauses and children spend their afternoons indoors anyway. Hockey fills that gap with something that builds skating, balance and speed instead of screen time.
300+ children from 38 nations train at Galaxy Hockey Academy this season. Your child walks into a locker room where half the team was born somewhere else, English is the common language, and a new face is normal. It feels a lot like an Al Warqa school, only on skates.
The academy is an official partner of the UAE Winter Sports Federation. Our senior team, Galaxy Warriors, plays in the Emirates Hockey League on the same ice the kids train on. Children who watch a Warriors game see exactly where the path leads.
Groups run U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16, and there are adult groups too. Children join from age 3. Nobody needs to skate already. The youngest groups start with standing, falling and getting up, then gliding, and only then a stick. Older beginners get the same basics at a faster pace, and a child who played back home joins the group that matches their level. Parents who want to try the game train on the same rink in the adult group, so one drive from Al Warqa can cover the whole family. The Kids Academy page describes each age group.
You book a slot, we confirm the group, and you come a little early so the coach can meet your child. Bring water and a pair of warm socks. Everything else, from what to wear to what the group needs, we talk through when you book, because it depends on age and on whether your child has skated before. The coach takes the group onto the ice, you watch from the side. Afterwards you know two things: whether your child wants to come back, and how the drive from Al Warqa fits your week. That first session is free.
Days and times differ by age group, so we keep them off this page rather than print something that goes stale. The current slots live on the Kids page, and when you book on the site or message us on WhatsApp we reply with the exact time for your child's group.
Season 2026/27 started on 1 September. Joining now means your child starts with the group instead of catching up later in the term.
