Al Khawaneej sits next door to Mirdif, so the ice is around ten minutes from your gate. Your child trains on real indoor ice, all year round, at our rink in Sport Society Mall, in age groups from U6 to U16, alongside 300+ kids from 38 nations. The first trial session is free.
Tell us your child's age and which day suits you. We answer with the group and a time that fits a short drive from Al Khawaneej.
our rink sits inside Sport Society Mall on the Mushrif side of Mirdif, and Al Khawaneej is the next district over. Local roads, no highway, parking at the mall itself. Around ten minutes from Al Khawaneej 1 and 2, a little more from Al Ttay and Al Awir. School pick-up time adds a few minutes, the rest of the day it is a short run.
Real ice a short drive away is rare in this city. What families keep coming back for is the rest of it. New to hockey in Dubai? Hockey in Dubai, rink by rink puts venues and age groups in one place.
Indoor rink at Sport Society Mall, Mirdif. Forty degrees outside in August changes nothing on the ice.
U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and adults. A three-year-old and a fourteen-year-old each train with their own peers.
Your child joins a team where teammates come from all over the world, and English on the ice is the norm.
Official partner of the UAE Winter Sports Federation. The club's senior team, Galaxy Warriors, plays in the Emirates Hockey League.
Most families on this site drive across the city to reach us. You do not. Sport Society Mall stands on the Mushrif side of Mirdif, and Al Khawaneej 1 and 2 sit right beside it. Leave the villa, take the local roads toward Mushrif, park at the mall, and you are walking into the rink around ten minutes later. Al Ttay adds a few minutes, Al Awir a few more. No highway and no Sheikh Zayed Road. That matters twice a week, every week, from September to June.
Galaxy Hockey Academy trains 300+ children from 38 nations, and the ice is real, indoor and open all year. Groups run by age, U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16, plus adults, so every child trains with peers at a pace that suits them. The academy is an official partner of the UAE Winter Sports Federation, and the club's senior team, Galaxy Warriors, plays in the Emirates Hockey League. Kids can see where the road leads: the older players they look up to compete in a real league.
Children start at 3. Nobody needs to skate before the first session; coaches begin with balance, edges and stopping, then add the stick and the puck. If your child has skated at a mall rink and wants more than laps, that is a fine place to start. Older beginners are welcome too: an eleven-year-old who has never been on the ice gets a place in a group of the right age and catches up quickly. Teenagers who played club hockey back home slot into U14 or U16 and keep going. Adults train at their own times, so a parent can lace up as well. The Kids Academy page describes each group.
Book it, and we confirm the group and the time on WhatsApp. On the day, bring a bottle of water and a pair of warm socks: the rink is cold, and cold feet end a session early. Everything else, including what your child wears on the ice, we go through with you when you book, because it depends on age and on what you already have at home. Arrive a little early, find the coach, and let the child go. Parents watch from the side. The first trial session is free.
The 2026/27 season started on 1 September and the groups are running now. Times differ by age group and change through the year, so we do not print a timetable on this page. The Kids Academy page carries the current picture, and the booking page asks one question about your preferred day and hands the rest to us. Season prices are on the pricing page. Join now and your child joins a group that is already on the ice.
Galaxy is building its own arena, GLXY Sport Hub, with two ice sheets under one roof. It is being prepared for opening, and we will publish the date when it is final. Until then, every session runs at our rink in Sport Society Mall, with the same coaches and the same groups. Families who start now keep their place when the new arena opens.
From a first-ever skate to years of club hockey back home, there is a group for your child. Adults train on the same rink at their own times. If nobody in the family has skated before, start with where to learn to skate in Dubai.
One message on WhatsApp starts it. Here is the rest.
Send your child's age and any skating experience. It goes straight to our coaches.
We match the age group and suggest a time. Ten minutes from Al Khawaneej, most slots work.
Water and warm socks in the bag. The rest we agree with you when you book.
Take a place in the group and train all year on real ice.
