Three rules for a good clip.
From the side
Stand 5 to 8 metres away and film side-on, level with the waist. Filming from above does not work.
Head to skates
Keep the whole child in the frame, from the head to the blades, for the entire clip. A phone held upright works best.
10 seconds, good light
Ten seconds of steady skating at a normal pace, in good light. One skater in the frame.
What the score looks at.
Film
Ten seconds of skating, from the side.
We watch
Your browser finds the body in each frame. Nothing is uploaded.
Four skills
Stance, forward lean, stride rhythm and balance, each from 0 to 100.
Your score
One number from 0 to 100, a Galaxy level and a card to share.
Stance
How deep the knees bend while the skater glides. A low, athletic stance gives power and control.
Forward lean
The angle of the body forward. A lean of 30 to 50 degrees keeps the weight over the skates.
Stride rhythm
How even and repeatable the strides are. A steady beat is a sign of control.
Balance
How calm the upper body stays. Less bobbing up and down means more efficient skating.

Questions parents ask.
What is Galaxy Skating Score?
A free tool from Galaxy Hockey Academy. It reads a short video of your child skating and gives a score from 0 to 100, a Galaxy level and one tip each for stance, forward lean, stride rhythm and balance.
Is my child's video safe?
Yes. The video is analysed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and is never uploaded. The pose model downloads once from a public server, and your video does not travel with it. We keep only anonymous numbers for statistics, never the video, a name or a picture.
How do I film it?
Stand 5 to 8 metres away and film from the side, with the whole child in frame from the head to the skates. Ten seconds of steady skating in good light, one skater only.
How accurate is it?
It is an estimate from one short clip. It shows the big picture and what to work on. It cannot judge edges, speed or game sense, so treat the score as a starting point. A coach confirms the details on the ice.
What happens next?
Download the card and share it. In Dubai, you can book a free trial and a Galaxy coach watches your child on the ice. Outside Dubai, we write back with camps and tournaments that fit your child.
