Ice hockey for Abu Dhabi families, training in Dubai
Galaxy Hockey Academy trains in Dubai, not in Abu Dhabi. Every session happens on a full-size sheet of real indoor ice at Sport Society Mall in Mirdif. If you live in Abu Dhabi and want ice hockey for your child or for yourself, this page shows what the drive and the training week look like, so you can decide before you commit.

How far is Mirdif from Abu Dhabi
From Yas Island it is about 135 km by road, roughly 90 minutes without traffic. From the centre of Abu Dhabi it is about 160 km, roughly 105 minutes. Both figures come from OpenStreetMap routing to Mirdif. Weekday sessions start in the evening, so add time for rush hour on the Dubai side. Parking is underneath the mall, and parents can wait in the cafes upstairs.
Kids ice hockey from Abu Dhabi: which group
We take children from 3 to 18 years old. The group follows the birth date, and the coach can move a player to another group by level. Season 2026/27 groups:
- U6: born 1 September 2020 or later
- U8: born 1 September 2018 to 31 August 2020
- U10: born 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2018
- U12: born 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2016
- U14: born 1 September 2012 to 31 August 2014
- U16: born 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2012

The training week
Ice sessions run on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at Sport Society Mall in Mirdif. Weekday sessions start between 17:15 and 20:00, depending on the group. Sunday sessions start between 08:00 and 09:15. The youngest group, U6, trains on our new ice, and U10 to U16 get extra sessions there. The schedule on the new ice is coming soon, and we will message you on WhatsApp.

How to book the first session
- Message us on WhatsApp at +971 50 859 9547, or open glxyhockey.com/start. Send the child's birth date.
- We pick the group and send you the day and time.
- You come to Mirdif. We give you the gear for the first session.
- After the session the coach tells you which group fits. If it fits, we register you for the season and send the details.
The first session is free for one child per family. It is one session. The price guide lists what the season costs.
Adults from Abu Dhabi
