What actually happens during Galaxy's October half-term camp

When Dubai schools break for October half-term, Galaxy runs a multi-activity kids camp at our home base, Sport Society Mall in Mirdif. It's worth saying plainly up front: this specific format is not an on-ice hockey session. It's a land-based day of games, sports and soft play, built to keep kids moving and social during the break, without needing any skating or hockey experience at all.

Multi-activity games, soft play, and a full day of it

The day is structured around multi-activity games, a rotation of team sports and guided activities that suit a mixed group of kids and keep the energy up without anyone standing around waiting for a turn. Alongside it, there's a soft play zone, a supervised space where younger kids can climb, tumble and burn energy safely between the more structured games. It's the same coaching team behind Galaxy Hockey Academy running the day, so the same standard of supervision and organisation applies, just without the ice under everyone's feet. Everything happens indoors at Sport Society Mall, so the October heat outside never enters the equation, kids stay cool, hydrated and active regardless of what it's like outside.

Why we run it this way

Half-term weeks are short, and not every family wants a specialist ice hockey commitment squeezed into a few days off school. A land-based, multi-activity format lowers the barrier: no skates to learn first, no gear to size, just a fun, structured week of games and play that any kid can drop straight into, hockey background or none at all. It's a deliberately different offer from our ice-based programmes, built for the specific shape of a short school break rather than a season of training.

Not an ice hockey camp, and that's on purpose

We'd rather be upfront than let you show up expecting skates. The October half-term format at Galaxy is multi-activity and soft play only, there's no ice hockey component in this particular camp. If it's ice hockey you're after, that's still very much on offer, just under a different roof: our year-round Camp Galaxy trains on real indoor ice at Sport Society, and if your child has never played before, a free ice hockey trial is the easiest way to start. Both run independently of the October half-term dates, so there's nothing stopping a family from doing both across the same break.

October half-term 2026 dates: not published yet

The honest state of play: exact dates for the 2026 October half-term camp haven't been set publicly. It will land inside Dubai schools' usual October half-term window, but we're not going to guess a date and risk getting it wrong. The fastest way to get the real dates is to message us on WhatsApp, tell us your child's age, and we'll confirm the calendar and open booking the moment it's locked in. No pressure to commit to anything before then, we'd simply rather have you on the list than guessing at a date we haven't confirmed ourselves.

Who it's for

This camp is built for kids on school half-term who want an active, social week rather than a week on a screen. Because it runs off the ice, there's no hockey or skating experience needed, and no gear to sort out beyond comfortable clothes for active play. Siblings are welcome, and it's a genuinely easy option for families who are new to Dubai and still finding their feet with school holiday plans, or for parents juggling a work week around a school break and needing somewhere safe and supervised for a few days.
