The next step
From desert ice to an international stage.
Dubai doesn't have a winter — so Galaxy goes to find one. This August, our 2010–2011 age group travels to Minsk, one of the great hockey cities, for the International Youth Hockey Cup: four days of competitive games against an international field, on full-size pro ice.
For a club born in the heat, a youth tournament in a true hockey country is exactly the test that makes players. Quick games, strong opponents, and a stage that pushes a young team further than a season at home ever could.
"We don't fly across the world to make up the numbers. We go to compete."
Why it matters
One desert team, carrying the UAE flag.
Galaxy is the only full ice hockey academy in the UAE, and trips like this are why. The Galaxy pathway takes a kid from a first wobble on the ice to international competition — and Minsk is one more rung on that ladder. Players who can say they played a tournament abroad come home different.
The squad travels under the GLXY flag, in the galactic purple, powered by AMYLCO — the club's general partner backing Galaxy at home and abroad.
